La folia dans tous ses états - Concert

La Folia is a key theme in baroque music and has been covered by many, from Vivaldi to Carl-Philipp Emmanuel Bach or even Anglebert and Reali. It is one of the most famous baroque music themes and has been adapted in different variations by some of the most famous composers in the history of music. It was first heard of in the 16th century and the first variations surfaced in 1604. Different variations will be composed throughout the 20th century, including one by Rachmaninov in 1932.

This program offers a taste of these variations written by composers of different origins: Ortiz from Spain, Vivaldi and Corelli from Italy, Marais from France, or even Bach from Germany…
